This framework brings together European researchers alongside professionals attending in non-official capacity and offers them the opportunity to share their views in a key non-governmental structure on security in the Asia-Pacific. l A great diversity of topics are touched upon. Themes such as Capacity Building for Maritime Security Cooperation, Countering the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Asia Pacific, Enhancing the Effectiveness of the Campaign Against International Terrorism, The Future Prospects for Multilateral Security Frameworks in the North Pacific/Northeast Asia, Human Trafficking, as well as Peacekeeping and Peace-building are discussed in the CSCAP Study Groups.

- The 27th meeting of the CSCAP steering committee took place in Kuala Lumpur on 4 June, 2007. Participants agreed to a draft memorandum on human trafficking and draft recommendations on Regional Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding.
- The first meeting of the SG on Asia-Pacific Cooperation for Energy Security took place in Singapore on 23-24 April, 2007, with CSCAP-Singapore as Chair and CSCAP-India as Co-chair.
- The first meeting of the SG on governance in Oceania took place in Wellington on 15-17 April, 2007.
- The fifth meeting of the SG on countering the Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) took place in San Francisco on 12-14 February, 2007.
