AGENDA
18-19 Jan. 2006, Paris. With the support of the DAS (Delegation for Strategic Affairs, French MoD) and jointly organised with the FRS (Foundation for Strategic Research) at the CHEM (Centre for Advanced Military Studies), this conference used Korea as a case study, to understand the strategic choices and dilemmas facing North-East Asia. It included a history of the Korean peninsula, looked at the realistic yet distant possibilitiesfor reunification, debated the nuclear factor, North Korea’s WMD and China’s role, illustrated (via the presentation of economic issues) the difficulty in taking a rational view of the North Korean system, and underlined important flaws in the attitude of the major international players.

Dupont (IHEDN), Chulki Ju (Amb. de la RDC en France) and Senator André Santini, in the presence of the press for the final round table (La Croix, RFI).
