Indian Positioning In The Face Of China's Influence In South-East Asia
3 Feb. 2006 by I. Saint-Mezard (PhD). This session brought out the mistrust and the differences between India and China – especially with regard to third nations in South Asia, despite the normalisation and the enthusiasm of a section of the Indian elite. The rivalries – in a Beijing-Washington-Delhi triangle – in the race for energy sources, Indian fears concerning the Sub-Himalayan states and the likely role of the SCO were discussed.
